Embark with us on a transformative journey into the future of Regenerative Arts at Ik Muluk—an Art and Research Centre dedicated to the exploration of regenerative arts, nestled deep within the lush expanse of the Mexican jungle in Tulum.

With construction well underway, we are poised to create a haven where artists can channel their creativity in perfect harmony with the natural world.

But our ambitions extend further.  We extend a warm invitation to researchers seeking to explore cutting-edge ecological practices or contribute to the restoration of our fragile ecosystems.

Envision a space where the convergence of technology, nature, and holistic principles paves the way for a more promising tomorrow.

However, we recognize that this endeavor requires collective effort. We place great value on community and express our deepest gratitude to all who have contributed to our journey thus far. Together, let us continue to weave the tapestry of our shared vision for a better world.

About

IK-MULUK

Just one year after Ik-Muluk's physical construction began in Mexico, we have achieved the following milestones:

2023:
Organized our first international artist exchange between Mexico and Ireland.
This exchange culminated in a prominent exhibition at the Mexican Embassy in Ireland, titled 'Sangre Mextiza,' featuring the participation of three prominent Mexican street artists: Cix.DMT, Spaik & KinMx.

Additionally as part of the exchange we organize a 1-month art exhibition called 'Streets of Dublin' was held at Phase Space, showcasing the work of over 25 local and international street artists, including Spaik and KinMx.

The opening night, featuring drinks sponsored by Grace O'Malley Whiskey, included live music, live painting, and a 2-day local Creative’s market, including illustrations, jewelry, clothing, knitting, and self-publications by local writers.

2024:
We facilitated two workshops led by bio-construction expert Stephen Clark (MX, UK), focusing on the innovative use of sugarcane bagasse at our facilities in Tulum, Mexico, with both national and international attendees
including the esteemed Irish artist and founder of Phase Space, Conan Wayne.

This collaborative effort not only showcased the diverse expertise and perspectives involved but also underscored the rich potential for cross-cultural learning and creative exploration. By fostering authentic inclusion and diversity, we ensure that our initiatives remain vibrant, dynamic, and reflective of the global community we strive to engage. Together, as we exchange ideas and collaborate, we take meaningful steps towards building a more sustainable and harmonious world.

What are Regenerative Practices  ?

Refer to approaches and techniques that aim to not only minimize negative impacts on the environment but also actively contribute to its restoration and regeneration.

In construction, regenerative practices may include using sustainable materials, incorporating renewable energy sources, implementing green building designs, and minimizing waste generation. Additionally, it may involve techniques such as bio-construction, which utilizes natural and locally sourced materials, and sustainable landscaping to enhance biodiversity and ecosystem health.

In the realm of art, regenerative practices involve creating works that engage with environmental themes, promote ecological awareness, and inspire positive change. This can include using eco-friendly materials, incorporating elements of nature into artworks, and collaborating with local communities to address environmental issues.

Overall, regenerative practices seek to create a symbiotic relationship between human activities, the built environment, and the natural world, fostering sustainability, resilience, and regeneration for future generations.
